MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

With a lifelong commitment to Christianity and an education at Christian schools, I have been exposed to countless retellings of Jesus' stories. I have even watched all the Jesus movies and miniseries ever created, and there have been numerous. So why produce yet another TV show about Jesus?

The answer lies in my desire for people to encounter the "old, old story" anew...for the very first time. There are moments when traditional Jesus movies fail to evoke emotions or inspire enthusiasm within me. These stories have become familiar, and several projects tend to focus solely on Bible narratives, neglecting the humanity and individual backgrounds of the characters involved. Consequently, they may give off an impression of rigidity and formality.

Thus, when we decided to craft a show that delves into Jesus' life through the perspective of those around Him, we experienced a sense of awe and excitement repeatedly. By exploring the backgrounds of characters like Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and recipients of Jesus' miracles, we were able to perceive Him in a way that resonated with ourselves. We couldn't help but empathize with their audacity, checkered pasts, religious devotion, and yearning for personal transformation. Ultimately, their stories of redemption.

One response from an early screening that resonated with us was: "Finally, a portrayal of Jesus that genuinely captivated my teenagers!" Regardless of your stage in your relationship with Christ, whether you identify with the multitudes in the gospels who encountered Jesus after a harrowing past without Him or if you resemble Nicodemus, someone who has remained faithfully devoted to God their entire life, Jesus continually demonstrated that we have much to learn and countless areas in need of growth.

We fervently hope that this show enables you to see Jesus as those who walked with Him did.
